Setting Things Up

(Covid-19 Community Volunteer, Module One)

This course is Module One in the course Covid-19 Community Volunteer.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, many people will have volunteered with the NHS, local authority or community group to help out.  Many of these volunteers will have be given the role to support someone living with dementia in the community.

In this module you will be exploring the experiences of people living with dementia and how you can make plans to ensure everything goes smoothly as possible, to best support a person living with dementia that you visit in your role.  You will be exploring your preconceived ideas of someone with dementia and learning a little about what it is like to be living with dementia, to enhance your role as a community volunteer.  You will also be given a checklist which you can complete with the person living with dementia in advance of meeting them to make sure all areas are covered.

This module consists of a mixture of written learning materials, exercises, a video, files to download, a handy checklist and a discussion forum to learn from others taking the course.

This course has been be co-produced by people living with dementia and their allies.

To access this course, you will need to self enrol on the course.  This is really easy, just follow the instructions and provide your name, email address and a password.
